Well, how do you do Pikey fans? Hopefully you have had the pleasure of joining us through our journey of The Serpent’s Spine via checking the news page every other day. We first took our steps into North Central Antonica in February, and our adventure quick materialised when we beat Vergalid on the 5th. Some guilds start with Frostcrypt and some start with Ashengate. We chose the latter. As of yesterday, The 29th of July 2007, D`Pikey completed TSS with the slaying of Beltron The Shade King – the last mob in the line of the Frostcrypt instances.

The Serpent’s Spine – Completed 29th July 2007

I know why you have come here though. You have come to view the Beltron update. I was planning on trying to make this update special since it is a massive thing to us. I was hoping to be able to center the news page from now on to make it look nicer, but apparently that isn’t possible. Don’t worry though, Kattus is on the job trying to sort something out so we can start Solteris with some nice centered text.

But back to Beltron. We have only had FC2 open to us for a short while, but nethertheless we made light work of it. To be fair, the fights were not very difficult. Infact, the stupid gargoyle aug event is probably the hardest one in there.

After a Sunday afternoon clearing the loot mobs in FC2 while the Gargoyle event was down (that’s the only reason we went – otherwise it was DK!) we decided to commit the evening to learning Beltron. This was our 3rd attempt on him. Those who have done Beltron before will know of the massively annoying Golem event before hand. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an interesting event – but the need for two identical bashing ice blocks of crap is absolutely pointless. Oh and yea, if you wipe on Beltron, you have to do it all again! What am I talking about? This:

I’m sure there is a reason for it though – there has to be. This is Everquest!

On Beltron’s death, Giza started sending me tells about the update. During the fight, someone said the phrase ‘Don’t let the kiters cross beams!’ and his mature brain came to the conclusion we should focus this update around Ghostbusters. Yes, I was confused aswell but he explained it to me. Beltron is big, and The Puff Mashmallow giant out of Ghostbusters was big aswell, so to beat it they crossed beams eventhough they shouldn’t because it was dangerous. Get it now? So, I’m doing this next part of the update for Giza, because he had his heart set on it!

Once upon a time, there was a group of D`Pikey Beltron Busters.

And they had to beat this gene disaster:

So they crossed their beams (the beams come out of the guns) and turned Beltron sweet:

The End.

Now it’s time to get some serious screenshots in. If I was able to take the time to grab a couple you guys can take a few seconds to look at them!

This is Beltron. I like to post a bit of lore in our updates, but I didn’t pay any attention to the Frostcrypt Story. I should of really, I imagine it was a little more interesting than Ashengate.

This fight went pretty fast, so I wasn’t able to get some nice screenshots. Instead, we have the usual HP falling with a little in-game action shot.

And this is us in the latter stages of the fight.

Now, as you may have seen from past updates, there is also a problem with cornering mobs. When they die, there is no screenshot to grab, apart from a foot. I guess with me drawing the last few updates, that hasn’t been much of a problem, but after hanging my paint tools up until the next time they are actually needed, all there is of Beltron’s corpse is a foot. I took it from a different angle aswell to try and make it a little more interesting. Hopefully I succeeded.

Oh, by the way, if I actually post text images as GIFs they don’t appear blurred – how cool is that! This is probably where Kattus and Verdammnis send me angry tells and PMs complaining I am filling their webspage with crap; but I’m ok with it – and it’s for a good cause!

Here is a group photo. I don’t do enough of these, but that’s because they usually turn out really bad, or people just don’t go to the right place to get in them!

There must be about 10 or 15 people missing from that because they were at the other side of the room!

I have a special present for you guys now. Well actually, it’s not from me, it’s from Belaraform. He has been busy writing D`Pikey news fans a poem for the death of Beltron. Luckily for us, he got it finished in time. So here is Beltron’s Fall:

——————————————————-

Beltrons Fall

The krithgor giants came in great number,

Protecting the king in his deep slumber.

The clashing of steel, for miles resounded

By only the screams of the dying surmounted.

The mighty monsters in their frozen dungeon

Faced their foes, heroes of the sacred pantheon.

As the sun set over the distant mountains,

the icy troops were discarded to burnt remains,

and their foes faced the perils of an ancient maze

protected by the guardians vigilant gaze

yet our valiant guides, did not loose their way

and noble scouts opened us the door with wit and flay.

The Kings sentries stood massive blocking our path

Ignoring the destruction we left in our swath

Impassive they stood their eternal duty

Guarding the noble giant and his prized booty

To the entrance of the shaded chamber they stood their guard

Invulnerable they felt ,they had no guess of our hidden card.

We layed bare their souls and removed their immorality

We destroyed their essence and recreated them in fatality

Our fiery swords pierced their mortal hearts

Deprived of their armour they fell in many parts

Frozen with hail and sleet by the wizards mighty feats

In the end their heart stopped its frozen beats.

The king lay in shadows by shadow surrounded

His threatening gaze a mortal peril bounded

Angered by the intrusion away he swept his ire

His hate and terrible armour he knew object of our desire

At first he overwhelmed us, our fiery swords and mortal dagger

Our storms of arrows and our sacred magic did not make him stagger

They could not pierce the gloom of his own soul

That for so long had hidden in its own home,

His aura made them tremble but their minds had not faltered

Our heroes determination did not waver and the weakness was founded.

The struggle, for hours lasted, as creatures of nightmare came to his call

And our own knights with holy prayers made them fall.

Our warriors the king faced with grinning smiles

As its hits they parried and riposted and took full face

They still had breath to run a hundred miles

Switching between sword , shield and mace

They showed no fear to death

as they faced its frozen breath

The fight was long and new heroes were named among the ranks

but in the end king faced our own sudden wrath, and in front of our power he sank

with cursing words the spirits he had damned

freed in the cool breeze that lifted from place that had been cleansed

we cried our dead and healed our wounded and set toward a new light

that beckoned us with strength, the doors of solteris opened for our sight.

Thanks for that Bela, it makes a nice change on the frontpage. But now it’s Loot time! There has been no chest’s in Frostcrypt, all the loot has been done on the corpses, which I love! But, last week I did discover a good use for chests and that’s because a stupid NPC KS’d us on Wulfnor – but don’t worry, we’ve learned our lesson now – it won’t be happening again!

Congratulations to

Gamli

Gukak & Daggers

Shredclaw

Velicindar & Tavis won runes

Well, that’s it chaps and chapettes. It’s been a very adventurous 6 months or so. I’d like to thank everybody who helped us get here and congratulate D`Pikey on a fabulous job on catching up. There was quite a gap a while ago, but it’s slowly getting closed.

It has been a very long time since D`Pikey has been able to complete an expansion at the level it was made for. You can argue that we didn’t because The Buried Sea was released but I don’t see how that helped us much with us finishing The Serpent’s Spine.

With the level cap expected to be raised in November we will enjoy our farming in TSS and get us prepared for Solteris. Eventhough Solteris appears to be one of the most stupidly designed zones ever, we will succeed there. We will have one eye on getting D`Pikey keyed up for Solteris in the next month while we aim to get our average stats up that little bit more.

Updates from Solteris will be a little while away so don’t expect anything in the next coming weeks. But, when we do finally enter Solteris, you guys will be the first to hear about it!

Until next time pikey fans!

Recruitment

While we are preparing ourselves for Solteris, we are currently looking for a few DPS classes. We currently have room for either of these classes listed below but despite our lenient 50% RA Requirement we are only interested in good Raid attending players and those with a good AA count.

Wizards

Rogues

Bards

Monks

Berserkers

If you are in one of these classes and are interested by the prospect of The Serpent’s Spine farming and eventually moving in to Solteris, please get in contact with either Cramp or Purrfection and have a look over the recruitment forums.

Hey Pikey fans! Guess what? That’s right, we beat Harfarge. But guess what else? Yup, that’s right, I wasn’t online again. Although last time no one gave me any screenshots at all, I had a did actually have a clue how the fight went so I was able to come up with those ‘masterpieces’. However, I have never actually tried this Harfarge event, so it’s all new mumbo jumbo to me.

Luckily, my guild mates were a little more awake this time round and did actually get a few screenshots – but not enough. After discovering I might actually have to paint again I got on with it. As raid time loomed, those with screenshots sent me them, but after doing some paint work already I decided not to let them go to waste.

First off, let’s open with a little compelation from Tuerlius:

Thanks for that Tuer. Very er, explanatory to say the least. I like the way the white clashes with the black mathematical signs, very creative! Anywho, as I said I wasn’t there again, so here is how I interpreted our guild first went. There were some dramatic seens in the depths of Frostcrypt on Tuesday night, I only managed to get a couple, I’m sorry!

Because I haven’t done this before, I had to ask our dear guild leader what the coffins actually looked like. Here is our msn conversation:

Image

With this highly descriptive information, I was able to draw the above screenshot. While all that was going on, there was some ranger trouble surfacing to the west.

And we will quickly bring ourselves to Yugure’s screenshot of a fantasticly well cornered mob.

He is so well cornered, he actually knocked himself out on the edge. Good job gang! You see, when raid leaders shout for you to send mobs to the corner, it’s not because they want the melee to benefit from attacking from behind, it’s actually because the chance of the mob knocking himself out is substancially higher than keeping him in the middle of a floor. All this can be found in Adroxia’s new book: EQ 101 – The ins and outs of calm raid leadership. Copies can be purchased from any good bookstore and prices range from $7.94 to $67.89 depending on placement of purchase. There are no refunds, and pages 39-101 are intended to be blank. Any questions please PM Adroxia.

Back to our new kill! Again, there was some sort of fight and we won. Despite a few members grabbing a few screenies here and there, none took one of his corpse. As you can see, we here at D`Pikey are trained to the highest standard – sadly screenshotting is not in the training programme. Here is how his corpse probably looked:

Loot time. Ok, I managed to chase up one of the items, but the other one will have to wait until tomorrow! Congratulations to:

Aniora

Hauklotz

Mysterious Item

Gardorn on Gloves.

Dosvelasnegras on Helm.

Goratrix and Kaynn on runes!

Well. What can I say really. I should start by apologising by not been there at our last two guild firsts. I’m sure it’s all just a coincidence, but nethertheless, I doubt we will have any need for Paint screenies on our Beltron update because I will make sure I am there; for you guys of course.

Hopefully you have enjoyed the previous two updates, but that will be it for slacking now. D`Pikey are on the brink of completing ‘The Serpent’s Spine’ and your crazy if you’re afk while we’re doing it!

Until Next time Pikey fans!

P.S. I hope your enjoying your holiday Feo!

Hey Pikey fans. There’s no rest for the wiked, the cool and the slack right now. Well, actually, there is rest for the slack. There isn’t meant to be, but the slack decided it would be funny to not take screenshots on Thursday night. With real life calling me away from EQ for a night, D`Pikey headed back to Frostcrypt to try and beat the next event. Despite posting and asking someone to grab screenshots none of our fine members did!

So, I have had to resort to paint and some mental visions of heinsight. I have no idea how accurate these screenshots are, but I like to think we are telepathically connected to one another after spending hours on end in each others company so I hope these are correct!

Here is Fridleif, Master Warcraft. It sounds like he is a master of warcraft. It’s rumoured amongst the depths of Frostcrypt that on his days off, Fridleif actually enjoys a couple of hours in WoW – pwning some noobz. Here is an action shot of Thursday night:

It appears this giant was not happy at the sight of Purrfection:

After some sort of fight, we won. I wish I could tell you what happened, but I can’t so instead you’ll just have to let your imagination take over. We did get a corpse though:

Some nudist jumped in and wanted his picture taken. I had to put undies on him as such images such not be viewed on a guild news page. You’ll work out who it is and please, if you see him walking around PoK, poke his winky – he likes it.

Loot time! I had to ask my fellow guildies to link their loots to me so I could put them on this page. They are aug’d now though, so you’ll have to work out what the original stats were, or head over to Allakhazam and do an item search.

Congratulations to:

Wabb

Kaynn

Fonadil on Arms

Osmunius on Boots

Purrfection and Angelreaper won runes.

Well that’s it. I really hope this update was so shit that it was marginly funny. Let’s hope we won’t have this situation in the future, as my paint skills are very limited!

Until next time Pikey fans!
